General Information

The main features of the ETH Print Service are print from WLAN, VPN and “file upload”, secure printing using the “follow me” printer queue card-hp , comfortable copying and scan to email or USB stick.

To release print-jobs (sent for instance to card-hp), use the copier or scan a document you will have to authenticate to the printer, either

with the ETH-Card (*) or
with your ETH account and password for e-mail (Active Directory)

*) Note: the very first time you have to “activate the ETH-Card” by logging in to www.print.ethz.ch.

We have basically only 2 printer categories: MC4 (which can print and scan A4) and MC3 (which can print and scan A4 and A3).

The default printer configuration on all our managed computers is black and duplex. The following OS specific instructions explain how to print colour documents and are specific for the new HP Color LaserJet printers (introduced in March 2020).
